Ever wonder where Eoin Colfer got the names for the Artemis Fowl books? Well, here you go!
The names are in no particular order.
Artemis Fowl: The meaning of Artemis is unknown; it could be related to either to Greek artemes meaning "safe" or artamos "a butcher". Artemis was the Greek goddess of the moon and hunting, the twin of Apollo and the daughter of Zeus and Leto. She was known as Diana to the Romans. (Artemis is also a male name.)

Domovoi Bulter: In Russian folklore, a domovoy is a household spirit that not only watches the house, but also the inhabitants. Butler probably refers to the English word, butler.

Juliet Bulter: Juliet is the lover of Romeo in the play "Romeo and Juliet", by Shakespeare. She has the same last name as Butler.
Foaly: A foal is a baby horse.
Mulch Diggums: Mulch is a protective covering that's placed around plants to prevent the moisture from evaporating, the roots from freezing, and weeds from growing, which makes sense--after all, he is a tunnel dwarf. Diggums probably comes from the English verb dig.
